I figured it couldn't hurt so I installed it. Does it make any difference ? Maybe when the antenna is pulled out it can hold a weak signal a little better than my buddies in the same spot but it is such a slight difference that I am going to say no. But it is only money and the whole package was $6.50 so go ahead try it, it might work a little better than before if the signal is only weak, but if it is none existant don't bother. :) Bovon 05-04-2004, 09:16 PM If the phone works really good at one place..then goes out, or almost out in another place nearby, is an indication something is blocking the signal path. If that is the case, an antenna amplifier might possibly help just a little, but nothing will replace the lost signal. Get this "mental Picture" in your minds eye of how a radio signal travels Through the air. See a very calm pond of water in your minds eye. In this pond, is a board fence about 4 foot wide and just above the water, maybe 1 foot or so. Throw a small rock or marble in the pond near the fence..maybe 3 or 4 feet away...watch the ripples in the water spread out in all directions, but those that hit the fence stop..and on the other side of the fence, there are no ripples..unless there is a crack between the boards in the fence, then...there may be a few small ripples that continue on..but much weaker. The stone or marble thrown in the water, and the resulting ripples represent the wave front from a radio transmitter and antenna. (unless the antenna is a narrow beam antenna, designed to transmit all of its energy in one direction). Most antennas designed for many people to hear the signal in many directions from the transmitting antenna will be a 360 degree antenna..like a CB whip on a car or truck. What you are experiencing is most likely some kind of obstruction between your room and the transmitting antenna.
