Thanks! better leave the phone on then.

May Day is an Olde English celebration of spring being sprung, when Morris men danced in the streets an' all that.

It's a National Holiday over here, 1st Monday of the month of May.

I'm only allowed American Holidays (works out I get an extra day per year compared to normal folk here. :p ) The only UK resident British National to have no option but to work! :(

the phone is quiet, I can't go out drinking or making merry, so I have to amuse myself somehow!

When I do get holidays, I'm usually the only person off then too! It's murder being me I tell ya.

can't you just stay at home and get drunk? wouldn't be very professional to answer the phone with a slurring voice, add to that the fact your fellow Americans don't even know their own location half the time, I usually have to fill in the blanks, can't do that if I've been drinking - and it would be plain stupid to attempt drive between 100-440 miles (round trip) whilst under the influence! lose my License = lose my job! I've already got 9 points for speeding (3x3 stops) and 12 is a ban!

I switch off at 16:00, so not long left now anyway. ;)

i didn't mean while on the job, and certainly not while/before driving. drinking may be fun, and i may be young and stupid but it's dangerous and should certainly be done responsibly.

Drinking at home just doesn't have the same appeal as social drinking! Besides when you get to my age, you know how to handle drink ...I very rarely ever get "Drunk" (maybe once every few years), and I very rarely drink when I have work the next day!

I don't either and I'm 50% gay, remember?

Anyway, the maypole is just a metaphore for sex from before the days when it was still considered a taboo subject, so everyone just danced around a large pole with a big knob at the end, pulling around ribbons that symbolized something, not mentionable in these forums, all over the place and the wreath on top that drops down represents penetration.
Not something you should take your kiddies to see, it'd be like walking in on your parents...

Yes. Every May day I slug down a few malt wiskeys and dance around the May pole in my underware, but only if it is snowing out. :x

Thank god for amnesia.
Hopefully I'll be able to get the image of Strawbs dancing in his underwear out of my mind too. Might need some help from Jack Daniels though.

yeah i can't decide if i wanna know exactly what happened that night or not. it's just scary when you remember nothing from the night before and your friends are telling you about how you stripped and pole danced.
