The joypad cannot be detected in the windows?
Do anyone know why?

First double check the cable is properly inserted into the sound card's gameport.

Second. Make sure the little green light above the mode button on the SWGPad is on.

Third. Check in Device Manager under -Sound, Video and Game Controllers- and double check that there really is a functional gameport. If not you'll have to do a AddNewHard from Control Panel.

Fourth. Install MS's 3.02 software for the Sidewinder. Download it from MS SW.

Fifth. Make certain you have the latest drivers for your soundcard installed. Download them from the manufacturer's site.

There are a number of soundcards that have compatibility issues with the Sidewinder. Installing the updated drivers and/or installing 3.02 SW software corrects most problems.

Note:
Hopefully you didn't remove the original SW software. If you did And the symptoms occured, it's becomes a different issue you will rather not deal with.

I had the same problem. It was a conflict between the drivers for the gamepad and DirectX 6. As bleeding edge suggested, updating the software to 3.02 fixed the problem, now it works great!
