I have a MS-6117 mainboard with a WinBond AMIBIOS chip. How do I clear CMOS? What happens when I do that? Do I risc messing something up like not being able to boot or power-up?

No harm done. You just have to recheck/redo your settings. I've done it a number of times without any problem just as many others have, but I guess you should be made aware that some risks may be involved.
