While on-line gaming, my pc will lockup or lockup and go to a black screen. Have to restart PC.
A little while ago it did again, pc locked up, steady tone from speakers, and screen went black BUT a warning came up on the screen this time; (in Bold red letters)
ATTENTION
24k / 0Hz
Frequency is out of range.
Does all of this mean new monitor time?
Have done all of the checking on HD's and memory etc..even put in a new VC, ATI 9800 pro. And yes, it was doing this before the replacement.
Thanks..

WOW...25+ reads and no clues...
I just was trying to capture a VHS to DVD and it did it again..locked up the PC and just went to a black screen..again, the only way to restart was to turn off power and restart.

What video resolution are you running? What are your system and CPU temps? What kind of graphics card, RAM, PSU, monitor...

OK..some specs.
OS Windows XP Pro
MB MSI 865PE Neo2 latest BIOS
1.5gig PC2700 ram
WD SATA 120 gig HD, and a WD 160 gig ata100
ATI 9800 PRO video card
480watt PSU
Philips 17" 107T monitor set at 1024x760 75MHz
TEmps, well no monitoring but when I restart I check through bios and they are in the low 40C's.
Cable modem
cdrom and DVD writer
I make a point to keep drivers etc up to date also.
And no overclocking...
It is a strange problem.
I have sent the monitor back for RMA repair, only bad thing they did not tell what or if any thing was done. But they did extend my warranty another 90 days.

If possible, try another monitor and see if you get the same errors. Try changing the resolution -- 800x600x72 -- just see if it works...
