Just picked up a Yamaha 4416s (SCSI for those not in the know) and after I burned a copy of Photoshop 5, I recieved two error messages (both the same thing). It just said I/O error blah blah blah. I clicked on help to see what it meant and all I got was something that said "wait for the cd to be ready" or something along those lines (can't remember the exact text, but you get the idea). I tried to eject the disk and the door wouldn't pop, so I had to go into My Computer and eject it from there. Strange thing is I put the burn into my CDROM and began the install and everything seemed fine. I didn't go too far there as I stopped at the registration screen because I had to get the number which wasn't handy at the time. I'm taking this as a sign that the disk is fine, though. BTW, I didn't do anything while I was burning (although I heard with this drive you can do some things without burning coasters too often). And it's not like a screen saver came up while i was doing it either, but again, should it matter? TIA!!

Do it again. Do a read speed test on the cdrom feeding the burner. If its low-image to your hard drive first.Failing this-reinstall the burner software. Using easy cd creator 3.5b? A lot of folks are making cd's with errors. If you were able to write the table of contents-the errors should not be critical.

Also, the software that came with your burner disables the eject button until the "burn" is finished. When you forced the ejection of the cd you probably made yourself a coaster.

have you checked for the newest updates/drivers for that drive?

I haven't tried MR COMPUTER's suggestion yet, but I read somewhere else that I need to turn off auto insert notification on my regular CDROM otherwise something happens where the burner has to wait for it to be ready or the other way around. I'll try it as soon as I get the chance to burn another disc if the auto insert thing doesn't work (sorry, I'm kinda busy). As for the other posts, guys, I really appreciate the suggestions and all, but you may want to read the posts a little more in detail. I'm not trying to burn any bridges here, but you're wasting you're own time making suggestions if you don't read. The burn was done as it went through the table of contents phase and got to the point where it actually posted errors and I was able to see what they were. Plus, I did say that the disc seemed to work fine. As far as drivers go, a CDRW doesn't need drivers. They run out of the box off of CD mastering software. That's the drivers. Most drives (at least ones worth their salt) come with a later version of Adaptec easy cd creator or you can update it for free (as is the case with the HP drives). Again guys, I don't mean to be rude and intend on helping everyone I can, but please, read the posts first before you waste your time answering something that has already been answered.
