120g WD IDE 8mb buffer
Sony DVD/CDWR
and my old GF 4 4600 till the come out with the 6800 Ultra

here's my problem, i just reinstal Win XP Pro to the IDE drive and it stop in the midle saying that the file "Streamci.dll" could not be loaded.
now i can't remember if this was the same file that it was missing the first time i instal it, 4 Hours ago, but it was very unstable and it crash when i treied to instal SP1. it was saying that it could not find the patt "C:/2" and i tried to skiped it and that's when it crashed....

at first i though maybe the PSU was messing with me because my system keeped shoting down and restarting, for no reson.

i just got done reinstaling Win Xp and i will try to reinstal SP1, hope it works...

if not, how can i fix this???

Did you load your Raid drivers on setup?

I had a problem like that when loading XP, it turned out to be a weak CD-ROM, the CD-ROM would sometime work an when I put it in a PC that was working right the CD-ROM was iffy, when loading programs it would copy some file that would be corrupt an when coping files to HD i'd get a message saying that some files couldn't be copied. Another thing to look at is if the jummper settings on the back to the CD-ROM or DVD is correct, also make shure all connections r good.

this thing is driving me insaine...
Win xp as loaded fine, but once in a wile the system just shots off. it's lile, if i close a window, the owl thing close, like if i had push the reset button...

i'm starting to think the problem is my PSU.Here's (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-163-018&depa=1) the link for it.

and now it wont instal SP1, because it says the file is coroped.

can i instal SP2 data without SP1 instal?
and where can i find it?

Run memtest86 from www.memtest.org as it sounds like it could be a hardware issue. Also ensure that all the raid/sata drivers are loaded on startup (press f6 at the start of the XP setup and make sure they are on a floppy first to install them).

I don't think that your motherboard likes that RAM. If you're overclocking, back off.

hi bill

the ram i'm using is the only one that will work with AMD 64 FX51.
it as to be a registred Ram, and this is the one the manual says i should have in here. the corsair twinx 1024 RE 3200LL

and i'm not over-clocking...

and i'm still trying to figure out the memtest86 thing...

and i went and got Antec 430w PSU last night...

i must be retarded. but i can't figure out the memtest86...
is there an other program to test my ram?

BipolarBill

All you need to do is make the floppy and reboot with it in. Let it run and check the errors you see.

or it's just that ASUS SK8V don't like it, like you said bill.
the AMD 64 FX51 seams to work well with it, Here's the link (http://corsairmemory.com/corsair/products/guides/buyers_guide_sept-2003.pdf) for the twinX1024RE-3200LL.
i don't know, this project end up a lot worst then i though it would be...

Either that or your timings are out, or like Bill said, the memory might not be compatible. I think you've found your winner anyway.

see, i thought i was going crazy with this thing.
when i deside to build my own PC. i was going with the Alienware Aurora (http://www.alienware.com/Configurator_Pages/aurora_fx.aspx?SysCode=PC-AURORAFX&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT) to build mine. so i would have one of the best PC there is at the presant time.
and they have that MB with that Ram in.
i build it acording to there best system they had. and it's giving me the whorst headick i ever had...
can someone give me advise?

i alrighty spend $2300 on it. all i want, is the thing it work...

how do you find out if the timming is out?

With many things, especially comedy and magic, it's all a matter of timing. Look at the specs for the memory, and it will give 4 timings, and mention things like CAS, RAS to CAS etc. They will be something like 2.5, 3, 3, 6 (or something along those lines). Mirror the correct settings from Corsair in your bios (read the manual to find out where) and re-run memtest86. If it doesn't make a difference, RMA the memory.

ok this thing as bean running for 10 hours and as 142113 errors and i just shut it off.
the ram is 2-3-2-6 and the bios was on auto, so i put it on 2.0
and should the ECC be enable???

gtaylor
05-05-2004, 10:02 AM
No, the RAM should not be ECC Enabled. ECC Ram is parity checked stuff that is generally used on servers, and is more expensive. Generally, desktop systems do not support ECC Ram.

Find where to put the other timings in though, as this will make a difference.

DozerLYP
05-05-2004, 10:11 AM
well i did enable the ECC and it seams to have a lot less errors then before.
and the AMD 64 FX51 need Registred ECC memory

gtaylor
05-05-2004, 10:38 AM
You're right, sorry, the Athlon FX and that mobo does require ECC registered RAM. http://uk.asus.com/products/mb/socket940/sk8v/overview.htm

Unfortunately the TwinX memory you bought isn't registered ECC memory, you have the wrong stuff. Use some off the list at the ASUS site above. Send it back and get the correct modules.

that's what they said they tested the board with.
but i don't understand why alienware aurora as the two working fine.

DozerLYP

this ram is made for this chip and motherboard. after testing 1 stick at the time, i had 1 working fine and the other 1 was bad...
so i have to return them...

Well, there's your answer then.
