I got a new case today and put everything out of my old case into it. Hooked everything up and turned it on and everything worked fine. I used it for awhile then turned it off.

The next time I turned it on it hung at the verifying DMI pool screen. I waited a couple minutes and it was still just showing that screen. So I hit reset and it won't even post now. All the fans spin up and that is it. Anyone got any ideas what my problem might be?

BH6 (FL bios still)
cel.300A (not oc'd)
STB velocity 128
Fireball 12.7g EX
128MB ram

Thanks in advance!!

Reset the CMOS with the appropriate jumpers on the MB to try to get it to POST.

Bleeding Edge:

I already tried that and it is deader than hell. I still have my LX6, so I put it in and it fired right up and has been running fine. This has me totally stumped. The only thing I can figure is the bios got corrupted. I have Norton Antivirus 4.0 with the latest updates and it don't detect a virus.

I'm not for sure if a dead battery will cause something like this or not so I took it out checked it with a volt meter and it measured 3.06 volts and the battery says 3volts so it's fine. Could something have happened to the cmos? Or did the bios get messed up somehow?

Get the most recent BIOS for your board's web site and flash it per instructions.

I wish thats all I had to do but it would be kinda hard to do with the machine not even bootin up.

Sorry to point out the obvious but you are on the web now right. What prevents you from going over there and downloading the thing?

The motherboard won't even boot. How can I access the floppy too run the flash program? If there is a way I would like to know about it.

No power at all to the MB? Since you have the volt meter handy, did you try checking for proper voltages from the power connector?
I don't think this would do much good but it is a source of elimination.

You should probably just return the MB to your vendor for an exchange and save yourself from further frustration. You could try to get the MB manufacturer to send a replacement Bios chip or another board. It's still under warranty?

I was under the impression the system would try to boot, then fail, so it was still possible to boot from the floppy. Sorry.

Bleeding Edge:

It don't try to boot at all. When I hit the power button, all the fans spin up and the hard drive spins up and that is it. Nothing comes on the screan. No hard drive activity at all. No beeps.

I put my LX6 in and it is running fine so it ain't the power supply. I bought the BH6 in august from Bunta. It should have a one year warranty. I just hope I can find the invoice and the rest of the **** so I can get it replaced.

I could tell by your posts that you didn't understand what exactly was happenin. I probably should have explained it a little better. Sorry about the confusion.

You wouldn't happen to know where I can get a bios chip for the BH6 would ya?

Have you tried reseating the CPU or moving the RAM chip/s to different slots. My neighbors BH6 had the same problem, we moved the ram chip to another slot and all is well.

I had the exact same problem with my BH6, 300A, and Viper 330 board (pci). I finally just switched the video card out for an ATI xpert98 AGP and everything worked just fine.

I've had these same symptoms in the past with other M.B.s and the solution was always to reseat either the memory or the CPU. It seemed to have a marginal connection.

I've just bought an Abit BH6.
In turning on the power, exactly the same problem described by JROBERTS happened : Fans spinned up, Hard drive and Floppy test and nothing else, no picture on screen, no beep from the motherboard, just the full black ! (Gasp) :-(

To solve it, I've disconnected all my extension cards, but nothing else happened, and finally, I unplugged the Keyboard... to see the system starting.
(I tried, of course, to reset the CMOS, but that changed nothing).
I made a "hot plug" of the keyboard and of the mouse, and since, it's working fine.

If it can help...

I still got problems to make the IDE Bus Master drivers working with Windows 95 (There is a Topic on the Motherboard Forum).
If anybody can help me about these drivers, because I can't access my CDROM drive properly and Windows is saying me that the Drives are running under MS-DOS compatibility mode. (I've just downloaded drivers from Abit's Web site and will install them tonight).
I've got problems with the recognition of USB, and perhaps are the 2 problems linked...

Bye.

I just installed a bx6 rev 2 i had the same problem when i turned it on it would not turn off so this is what i did. Recheck your ram cpu to make sure it is seated correctly. Disconnect everthing from your motherboard except key board power (case) switch to mb speaker video card and monitor when you turn it on and you turn it off again you might have to hold the power switch in for 10 seconds. then it booted to the cmos and then i connected everything else. They told me the mb was in suspend mode.
Good luck

Thanks for the reply's everyone. I have sent the BH6 back too Bunta. It was definitely the motherboard. Luckily I still had my LX6 motherboard.

I tried reseating the memory and the cpu, nothing. I then put in my LX6 motherboard, and everything works fine. I even tried a different graphics card, that didn't work. So the only thing it could have been is the motherboard.

Thanks
