I just bought my wife an old 133 system for 150 bucks complete LOL off a friend, and although everything runs ok, it's extremely slower than the 133 we use at work, probably due to the fact that in the device manager, there are two exclamation marks next to the primary and secondary ide controllers. My friend said he reinstalled windows to try and fix it, but it didn't change anything, I went already and searched in regedit for a "no ide" key, or value, and there is none there, are there any other registry values that keep windows from using 32 bit mode disk drivers??? I would really like to avoid reinstalling if possible..specs are...p133 on aopen motherboard, hx chipset, 32mb ram, seagate 2.6 gb hd. running windows 95b. Thanks in advance

Some older isa sound cards, have an ide connecter, that likes to interfere with mb controllers. Try pulling the sound card.If that corrects the problem, look on the sound card for an ide disable jumper.

some of the older VX motherboards have a unique busmaster driver that came with them on a dirvers disk (I don't know about the HX chipset)- I just ran into a system like this - Win95B doesnot have these drivers, but Win95C and higher does. Try downloading the drivers if they are still available.

Sometimes all it takes is to remove the PCI Bus and reboot. Oh yeah, good advice about the sound card -
