I'm upgrading a colleague's PC from 32 MB RAM to 64. The PC already has 2 16 MB sticks of EDO RAM, but when I add the other 2 sticks, the memory check reports it as only 65152, instead of the normal 65536.
Windows will not start when all 4 sticks are installed.

When I put in the 2 new sticks of RAM, the computer reports correctly 32768, so it shouldn't be faulty RAM. Any combination of the RAM sticks works in 32 MB, but none works in 64.

I've swapped slots, etc, but still no go.

Any suggestions?

BTW, the motherboard is a generic HX, with a Pentium 166 MMX. I've messed around the BIOS, to no avail.

TIA
