As a matter of fact, its happening right now...

Everytime I'm online, I get long pauses of screen freezes. Windows still does its
thing cuz it picks up on mouse clicks, that is when it doesnt just kill the mouse
all together, like it just did... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

I was wondering if anyone else has heard of this and if it is the modem or what. I
also get big pauses in Falcon 4, but I don't know if that is due to the patch or
not. Also, I have a TNT Viper 550 AGP vid card. Could that be set up wrong? I got
the new drivers from Diamond, if I could check it, I would post the version
number(i think its 2.55..not sure). Falcon ran smooth for a while, now its
crashing like the boxed version...
==After Reboot==
ok, and one more thing. I have to reboot to get the mouse back. Well, I just did
that and it reminded of the other thing that happens. On boot-up, it says mouse
attached, if serial mouse attach now, and if P/S-2 mouse connect and restart. I
have PS2and I have to reboot, go into the BIOS and put it
to optimized configeration, and then it will be alright, like now. But I havent
changed a thing in between...
One more thing, the pause is about 9 sec. It happened on dial up, and the count
went from 12 sec to 21 sec after the pause.

ISP=MSN
56k modem with latest drivers(Lucent 5.18)
Use Netscape 4.51
Win98 w/DX6 drivers on all but sound, its at 5.
what else...

I don't know. I could maybe try an updated bios for MB, but I don't know if that
is it.

Thanx fer any help

Go to system properties\device manager and check for any conflicts.. or yellow ! marks.. or other devices ?.. or an extra mouse driver loading.. if so remove them and reboot.. if not.. run msconfig.. and remove services and see which one is causing the pause problems.. most likely an anti-viral program...

There arent any conflicts in the device mangaer. PS2 mouse and modem IRQ's are different. The mouse doesnt take a comport,does it? Modem on com1, and com2 and 4 are showing, thats it. Arent they the same?
I didnt know what ya ment by "removing services" with the msconfig...

a serial mouse using a com port.. and a ps2 mouse does not.. if you have a serial mouse it may be conflicting with your modem
services means programs.. that run..
