There's no support in NT4 for DirectX 6. It has D3 support I think. And doesn't DVD need to use D6. The following isn't directly related to your Q but it is a interesting read. http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdn-online/training/chats/transcripts/directx_052698.asp Stan 04-01-1999, 03:11 AM I agree with Bleeding Edge NT4 does not support DVD. The highest version you can install is DirectX 3 (installed with sp3) Stan Isos 04-01-1999, 11:53 AM Thanks. I guess, I'll just have to dual boot for now. BBA 04-02-1999, 07:24 AM Well, NT4 does in fact take the Dx6.1 install, and it works. I have to point out that its a matter of security access to the hardware that NT does not allow, not the fact that DX doesnt work with it. You see, without a DVD dedicated card, NT just doesn't like this kind of software accessing a video card. There are professional video solutions out there, but money would be a concern to most people. BBA jokostel 04-02-1999, 07:55 AM in totally agree with bleeding edge as well..... nt doesnt support half of the api's of dx6...... I EVEN TRIED IT ONCE when i was running nt...... it didnt even install... came up with an in compatablity prob with the os..... SysOpt.com
