I am in search for a Sony Crx230au driver for Window XP.

I can't seem to find it anywhere. Can you guys help me out.

What could cause this? The Cd rom is a Sony Crx230au on Window XP.

I was experiencing this problem on my Dell P3 with a 4-5 year-old Cendyne CDRW. The drive died about a month later.:(

Could've just been a coincidence though...

Is this USB? USB storage devices don't need drivers in XP. neither do IDE burners. All you need is the burner software.

Load SP1a if you haven't yet.

I'm just trying to help my friend who having trouble with his burnner.

He installed the burnner and it powers on and is able to eject and load the tray but the drive isnt showing up on "My Computer"

Btw whats SP1a? Service pack 1 a?:confused:

Yes.

If it's not showing up in My Computer, it's either not jumpered properly or the BIOS is not set up to recognize a new drive. Oh - he may have bent or collapsed some pins too.

All you need is power to get a tray to open. You don't even need a data cable or jumpers. Opening and closing means nothing, really.

does xp see the drive in device manager? did you install ezcd creator?
