486 System - went into CMOS and clicked auto-identify hard drive. System shut down and will not boot. No message. No video. No keyboard response. Re-pinned battery Jumper to External. Tried new battery - same result. Cannot get to BIOS. AIM BIOS chip marked "AA0960386" mfd. in 1992. Cannot get any other response. Any suggestions appreciated.
Happend while in process if upgrading to quickchip 133.... Could it spin up etc. if the chip is not seated properly?

If I didn't know any better, I'd say you just lost your Mobo.
Are there any beeps when you try to start or is it just dead? Does hard drive spin up or floppy light come on?
No beeps... just dead. Yes, hard drives spin up and keyboard initial test is completed, floppy light is on and stedy....

Did you remove any of your cables. If the cables get turned the oppisite way ( red stripe on edge of cable goes to pin one) it can prevent a normal bootup. Check to make sure all your cables are making good connection and in the right direction. Check all of your expansion cards to be sure they are seated properly. If you have changed a chip, be sure it is turned correctly and seated good.
Thanks for the help...problem partially resolved.... Now working on getting correct HD codes for CMOS and jumper pinouts for motherboard.
