ok, heres the deal

i noticed that when i bring up the task manager(windows xp home sp1) that explorer.exe shows up as "Explorer.EXE", this looks bizarre, also the file size was usually 60 to 80 megs, now it is going all the way up to 150 megs!

something is going on!

spybot, adware, cwshredder, hijackthis, and all free online scanners have been used!

im lost

i booted into safe mode and still could not find anything with scans

cheers
mike

"Explorer.EXE" is how mine is listed in Task Manager , with about 10,500K when open. I know I'm clean. If you want , post a HJT log . Otherwise, look here

Mine is listed as 'explorer.exe' and is only consuming 22Mb which isn't too bad when you consider the ammount of stuff I usually have running.

What virus scanner have you tried?

The free ones do an adequate job, but you get what you pay for.
Just do yourself a favour and NEVER use norton AV.

Same here too Rocketmech.

Did a deep virus scan with F-Secure workstation V5.41 and The Cleaner Pro late today. All with latest software updates and signature etc.

Nothing odd was reported.
