NEC laptop hard drive

I have a NEC VERSA 2205C laptop with an 810MB hard drive. Can I install a different brand of hard drive in this laptop. And if so, how large of a hard drive can I install.

Should check with nec on this,but most systems can support at least a 2.1gb drive.this is gonig to depend on the os and bios of the system.Also is this drive a permanent mount drive or can it actually be removed and is encased in a cartridge?If it is mounted inside the machine chances are you can use other drives(not nec).even some of the cartridge mount drives can be removed from the cart and replaced with newer ones.Nec should have the upgrade info on their site.Also special utilities that come with hard drives can help system to recognize larger capacity drives
