Upgrade time

Hello all

Been a while since I posted here. Basically it's time to upgrade my computer I think, as the games that are coming out now (FarCry, Painkiller, STALKER, etc) are quite the computer eaters, & my old machine just doesn't match up.

This is what I'm running at the moment -

Athlon XP 1600
256MB Radeon 9600
512DDR

The graphics card was a recent addition, and that'll probably be OK for the time being. I'm thinking about shoving another 512DDR RAM in there, but I'm not sure what CPU to go for. Any suggestions?

What speed is your ram? What kind of mobo do you have?

I would look into upgrading that CPU first. What's your motherboard model (so we can determine the highest CPU it can take)?

Just go out there and buy yourself a mobo/cpu bundle set. Their so cheap these days anyways. Try choosing a AMD Barton core if possible. I would bump the memory at least to 1 gig. Not sure about the ATI card, but I'd look for tweaking sofware to o'c it. that should be a very inexpensive upgrade ( opposed to repalcing it all ). Good luck. :t
