Error messages after installing IE 5.0

I installed IE 5.0 and started getting error messages on start up. I get Explorer caused invaild page fault in module kernel32.dll at 015f:bff7a3c2 and other times it's in apitrap.dll 015f:00b63473, or I get both. I also have a Diamond Monster Fusion video card and I have installed the new drivers that are supposed to fix the problem with the comctl32.dll file. I've formatted and reinstalled Win98 and I still got the errors. Does anyone have a clue?

I know this sounds silly, but borrow a different mouse from someone and try that. Amazing how a $9 peripheral can cause major headaches.
I've run into this problem mostly with Cyrix processors, and Cirrus Logic video cards.
