Can someone please explain how I can play a game completely from the HDD as opposed to using the CD-Rom once the games ‘typical’ installation is completed?

For example I would like to play Soldier of Fortune II directly from my gaming HDD (see PM image)

http://www.sysopt.com/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=1084591

The image was for a problem a Sysopt member was having using PM so please ignore the ‘Resize/Move Partition’ applet.

The Games partition is HDD 4; partition K (36+GB SCSI)

Ok, what do I need to know and do? Please can you give me as detailed step-by-step instructions as possible?

Is there any software that can do this for me, e.g., Paragon CD Emulator etc?

I would be very appreciative if someone would take the time to help me understand this area, as gaming is new to me. 15 mins of SOF II is it in 7 years. I don’t even know how to play Windows Solitaire – never wanted to.

All the best,
G

PS: it’s time to have some fun :D

Easy.......

Install any game you want then go to www.gamecopyworld.com
This is a VERY legit website because you can't get serial keys its made for ppl that have the games but don't want to have a cd in to play. If it was a bad site it woulda been shut down YEARS ago.
You can't get images or anything but it's nice to have cd cracks so you don't have to worry about lookinf for the cd to play.

Thanks Razielian, I see what you mean.

Firstly I install SOF 2 in K:. Then go to the link below to D/L the official patch V1.03 at

http://www.ravensoft.com/soldier2.html

Install this in K:

Now using the gamecopyworld.com link for SOF 2 what exactly do I need from here? I have looked at my discs and it does not say anything about being a Gold Edition. It came with my Gigabyte 9800 Pro 128MB GA.

Must get some )-| . It's nearly 3am.

I believe you can mount the play disc and wutnot onto a virtual drive, which will let you run the game without the cd.

From what i searched on the actual program:
Mount Image: This option enables users to mount an image file that is stored in the hard disk to a virtual CD/DVD-ROM. This mounting action is just as the same as loading a CD or DVD into a real CD/DVD-ROM drive.

So all you have to do is make an image of the cd, and mount it to a virtual drive. :t

Thanks.

I actually thought that this was how to play from the HDD but there seems to be many ways of going about it.

I'm going to have to put game playing aside until Friday but I will let you all know how I get on.

;) well let's not go too far......it's a great site but not everyone going there is just trying to do what G is doing - running his own game on his own computer

G - everything you need is there, however, so let us know how it works out :t
