I just installed Office 2003 and part of it was Office Outlook Express. I created my accounts that I already had at Hotmail and tried to download messages etc. and this NEW one runs at a snail pace! NE way to speed it up or should I just go back to Outlook Express that came w/ XP?

Unless there is some feature that you would want with the new Express I would just stay with the old one.
You might want to check to see if there is a different place to connect to for the different version of Express. I beleive some versions of Express did not work with Hotmail or needed a different connection string.

Office 2003 doesn't include Outlook Express (it includes Outlook), but it may require that you update Internet Explorer which includes Outlook Express 6.
When you update Internet Explorer, you can deselect OE6 in the custom setup. Try going to Add/Remove Programs and reverting to the previous version of IE. If that fails, uninstall Office too. When done, manually update IE and exclude Outlook Express in the custom setup before installing Office.
If you have System Restore, try that.

Outlook 2003 does not come with Outlook Express.
It comes with Outlook 2003.
It is fantastic....with it's junk mail filter!!
Outlook and Outlook Express both have POP3 availability....
See if this thread helps...

Also...Wiloverton...
When I was testing the Office 2003 Beta, I noticed that when I installed Business contacts manager, an add on piece of software, it slowed it down big time!
It runs SQL in the background...
Did you happen to install that, too?
It would be on a separate CD if you did, it is NOT part of the standard or professional install of office 2003.

I've also noticed that Office 2003 likes a lot of RAM to run quickly. Could explain the speed you say you're not seeing.

50MB of RAM...if you use Word as your email editor...along with Outlook.
But...1GB at home, and 512 at work...so, no issues...:)
Office, by nature, has always been a RAM hog....
