I have just finished building my machine (Gemlight PSV54 mb / 32EDO / Win98) but have lost COMM1 in the Ports listing in Device Manager.
How can I get it back, cos at present I can get no mouse activity using a serial mouse connected to the correct connections on the mb.

Is the port enabled in the BIOS.

Did you use the supplied internal Serial cable ribbon connector that came with the motherboard. (The pin-outs from MB maker to maker are different most of the time.)

From ControlPanel/AddHardware.
Choose to select from list.
Select ports.
Choose communications port.

You shouldn't have to do it this way, so check the Bios and cable first.
