I've gone and replaced my old wired Edimax Router for a hybrid wired and wireless Sitecom Router.
I've set everything correctly, have internet connection. Have two pc's on the wired connection (third connection Xbox), are working ok, some troubles with slow connection, but were solved with a new firmware for the router.
Only lag I now have is on the wireless (using pc card and laptop). Terrible connection speed, using a speed test I get between 8 to 30 kbs (downloading sometimes 50 kbs but goes down overtime), which is a real drag, considering I should be getting speeds of up to 150 kbs and up.
I've switched channels, have 15 of them, some of them show an excellent wireless connection but the transfer speeds are still poor.
Thinking this is just something you should put up with, going wireless, I went and helped a friend set up his wireless connection, telling him not to expect any good transfer speeds.
When we were finished we used a speed test and he got the full cable speed, over 200 kbs and up!! So he's very glad and I'm like, what the....
What could be causing my worthless wireless speed?
Oh, by the way, it doesn't matter how far away I am from the AP, connection still lags.
And I forgot to mention I'm using an 11 Mbps set, my friend is also using 11 Mbps kit from Qtec.
