Most CD-Rom drives cannot read CD-RWs, though they have no problems reading CD-Rs.
The only fix you have is to track down a drive that does.

Some very old CD-ROM drives and audio CD players cannot read CD-R disks (think 2x and slower drives). This can be because they don't support the multi-session format or because CD-R reflects less light than a pressed CD-ROM.
CD-RW can be read in only some of the most recent drives, anything faster than the 12/20X in the Plextor line can, don't know about other brands but you can forget about anything other than Plextor from the 20X time of drives.
I believe than you probably won't be able to find any audio CD players that can read a CD-RW.
