This is killing me! New system!
Everytime I start my browser within 2-3 minutes the system freezes. Tried alternate CPU, Memory, Updated IE4 to IE5, updated DUN & Winsock to ver 2.0, tried different modem. No luck. Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers HarryH

Check for unwanted Wsock
(Use Find "Folder or Files" to look for Wsock.)
Type in Wsock
I kept Wsock32.dll &Wsock32n.dll and Wsock.VXD in my Windows\System
And rename all others oldwsock
If Windows will not let you rename a wsock
Saying"Windows is using this file can't rename"
This might be the cause of your Internet to freeze.
Windows should be using the wsock in your windows\system
Bootup in safe-mode and rename the wsock to oldwsock
If you rename the wrong wsock just rename it back.

(This renaming method can work with other mismatch files)

Try running the browser in a new process by going into internet properties | advanced tab | and put a check on browse in a new process.. If that dont work disable ur TSR's

I'll bet you 100 dollars that you have a logitech mouse. You messed up when you installed IE5.0. logitech and ie5 have compatibility problems. they dont have a fix for it yet. Use your old mouse an it won't lock up. Post back and tell me if that is the case or not.
