i got an acer cd-rw and according to the tests it can extract digital audio at about 500kb/sec from my second cd-rom drv (32x). but my 32x won't record digital audio specially when using Musicmatch jukebox 3(used to record mp3's). i get an error saying that it couldn't extract digital audio.
could this be a problem with my hardware?

err is your 32X drive recordable?

I assume what you mean is you have a CD in your 32X and a blank CD-R in you CD-RW. Not all CD-ROMs can do Digital Audio Extraction (DAE) and many that can do it do it poorly. If you want ones that will get Plextor (but they aren't cheap).

You should be able to use you CD-WR to extract to your hard disk then write the CD-R from your hard disk.

Oh man I just had this problem I think - you mean you cannot extract digital audio from your CDROM right? I didn't get your meaning clearly.

If you are running Bus Master IDE drivers that could be the problem. I had this problem on a VIA chipset - I could copy and create Data CDs but could not extract digital audio - i tried 5 different, new, CDROMs and got the same message "This drive does not support Digital Audio Extraction." Then I discovered on the software vendor's website that Busmaster Drivers could be the problem on both Intel and non-intel chipsets. They recommended to uninstall the Busmaster and use Windows standard drivers. that worked fine and 3 out of 4 OLD CDROM drives did DAE just fine. The VIA "High Point" drivers also worked with DAE, and I am using them now.

Just thought I'd share that tid-bit.

Had the same problem. Bought a new CDrom drive. Same problem. This purely Ripping I am talking about here. Downloaded audiograbber shareware for CD ripping. Running it for the first time it told me that I had an old version of SCSI1hlp.vxd, pointed me to a Sony site (which I can't find immediately, but may be able to, later).Replaced the file and both my old and new CDrom's rip CD audio. MOST CDROMS will do it! Download Audio grabber cool toll anyway!
