I have a i430VX mainboard according to the book I have.
The chip is a cyrix 6X86 166mhz.
I was testing this board and removed the cache memory the processor and the battery.
I replaced all of them and checked the jumpers.Reseated the memory,I then tried to get the thing to boot and got nothing at all on the monitor.Like no signal was going to it also the hard drive led stays on,but i did get the lights on the keyboard to flash.
Then nothing at all
I can not get to the BIOS, rechecked all connections but again nothing.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Me again, also can the battery ruin the BIOS when removed?
Why were you "testing" the mb? was there some kinda problem with it to begin with? Also, how were you testing the board? I don't know your level of experience so just let me say recheck, recheck and recheck some more. especially the connectors to your hard drive. I once connected my ide ribbon backwards and got the same results you are getting. Were you using any kind of static protection as you worked with the board and cpu? Winter months are bad about static which can fry anything you touch in the circuit. As far as the battery part goes, you should not have ruined anything there but of course you did lose any setting you had.
After you check, rechech, and then check your connections again, you should try removing the mobo from the case and placing it on a static-free bag. Attach just the power and the video card (or a POST card) and turn it on. You may have a small piece of metal shorting out part of the mobo, and removing the mobo from the case and running it by itself should let you know if that is the problem. Also, it could be any of your cards or drives, and this test will narrow down those possibilities as well.

The best bet is to try outside the case with a very limited components like the video card, memory and connect the motherbord to the power supply. This test reduces the possibilities of conflicts. Check clear the bios jumper. I it is in the clear position, the motherboard won't boot. Make sure the battery is setup correctly on the motherboard. Check also the polarity. If you have a small multimeter check the power supply connections and continuity in the mobo. Good luck and hope it helps!

I have had this problem a couple of times and I found that both times the memory card wasn't fully set in the mobo. The former post is correct also, Unplug all the components you can and try to boot with as few components as possible.
Good luck,
Mark
