Well, started out to save some bucks, setting up a new computer
and took out the 1 month old gigabyte gv-r7064t Ati radeon video
card and used it to set up the new computer with. Ran into some
problems setting up and decided to go back to the old computer to check the internet for some help.

After reinstalled the card back into its original place/computer, I
could not get the thing to boot up with out a garbled unreadable screen. Booted on safe mode and deleted the drivers. re-booted and tried to reinstall the drivers. No improvement still garbled, lines running from left top to bottom right.

only way to use the thing now is with vga drivers and a screen800X600, 16 colors.

Is the card dead or have I missed something.

any suggestions would be welcome.

thanks in advance

Larry

Check the heatsink and fan. Either the sink isn't making contact or more likely the fan isn't spinning. If both are then okay then it didn't fry from heat. So either the new computer killed it or your handling of it btw computers is what did it. If it is the heatsink, you can try replacing it with a better one. My core lost the heatsink for a bootup sequence and still works even after locking the computer up when it did overheat.

Card is not equiped with a fan, just a heat sink. used an anti-static band when moving between computers.
could have been a voltage problem when
first start of the new computer.

Thanks for the imput.
