Video Card Memory Speed

Memory speed on my 9800pro has me confused. The defult clock speeds are i think;

380 Core
340 Memory

Now on the ATI website is has it as

380 Core
680 memory

i heard aomthing about using DDR or Mhz but im still confused. I always get the low numbers on ATI tool and Radlinker and rivatunner. So what is this high speed called.

DDR - double data rate

340x2=680

The same thing applies to system ram.

when you are overclocking, you need to take that into account. so an increase to 350 is actually 700 because it's DDR.
