remember that rather lengthy 3d tehcnology test rom a few months ago that was stored completely in a 64k file, well, same technology applied to a game

does it work Jakk? is it a virus, worm, trojan, etc.?

It works fine (well, its still a Beta but you know what i mean), its from the people who made the benchmark program by the looks of it. Its hardly UT2K4, but, it does make you think that if something liek this (think Quake I) can be fit into a 90K file, that the guys behind the likes of DX:IW/UT2004/Far Cry, all weighing in at 3Gb+ are being perhaps a little wasteful in their coding methods

HAHA....quite amazing. Some nice textures and lighting effects also!

Like you said Jakk.....I think some of the gaming companies can learn a bit from this!

Wow, thats unbelievable that a game with those graphics fit in 96k, i was expecting something far far more hideous when i read that. Amazin

Lol, I came here to post exactly this and you were faster than me Bigjakkstaffa :t

That's amazing technology and those guys know what they are doing. I remember the old demo in 64kb Bigjakkstaffa mentions. It lasts for about 15 minutes and has sound... everything in 64k :P

Unbelievable :D

Where can I get this 64k demo you guys are mentioning?

They're using really minimalist methods aren't they. Written either directly in Assembly or in a lightweight version of C using direct OpenGL or DirectX commands. No big game engine I don't think!

Maybe all the textures are generated on the fly?

Does it have sound too?

Very impressive, I'll download it when I get home

You can find the demos (they've done a few) at:

theproduct.de (no www on it)

They are amazing

I can't believe how many they've made.

I've just been on last year's breakpoint competition and there were loads of entries!

Any other sites I can download demos from? I'm forever hogging the nvidia site for graphics demos!

the difference between this and UT Jakk is that UT runs far faster - it isn't uncompressing everything every time you look at it.

The other reason the game installs are sooo huge is that you install the textures for all qualities - i.e. there is no "I'm never putting it on max detail so don't install these..." option.

Well, that option should be there :P

I've seen some games have that opinton to not install the high quality texture. Not sure where.

Nice game but ridiculously slow for that quality and too dark. But not so bad at all considering it's a 96k file.

pretty inefficent, runs slow and uses 200 megs of ram :)
