I'm trying to diagnose a computer problem long distance (doesn't that just suck?). The monitor power light just flashes, while the computer powers up normally. Of course there's no display at all on the screen. Sound like a bad vid card or monitor?
Sounds like a vid card thing to me. The flashing light generally means that its getting no signal from the machine. The obvious test would be to plug your monitor into someone elses machine and see if a picture comes up. Is it an older monitor? Ive had monitors where the cables have come loose in the back, and i had to jiggle them to make the picture come up...who knows.

I was thinking (hoping!) the same thing, but unfortunately I have no way to test it long distance. Will have to come up with some arrangement I guess. Thanks for the info!
