Invalid Page Fault running SFC

When trying to run the System File Checker program on a machine running Win98SE, the following error message is displayed:

"SFC.EXE caused an invalid page fault in module KRNL386.dll..."

Has anyone experienced this error and can offer me some way to fix this situation?

Help somebody... Please!!!!

Anything else to that error message?
You could try extracting a new sfc file from win98_41.cab or win98_46.cab rename sfc.exe to sfc.old then use Winzip to extract new sfc.exe from cab and place file in c:\windows\system32
You could also try running SFC from safe-mode or as a last resort install win98SE over itself (you won't lose any data.)

I tried to fix the problem by reinstalling win98se over itself. Unfortunately, that didn't repair the problem.

Are you sure your running it rite, restart in dos prompt and type

sfc /scannow

let us know.
