I am working in a Windows 2000 /Server LAN environment. I recently installed a new printer and replaced it with the same IP address as the old printer.

I wanted to get rid of the old printer listed on all the users' desktops (ie. Start > Settings > Printers) and when I couldn't do that, I removed the IP address from the print server and I was able to remove the old printer off of everyone's desktop... except for 2 users. I keep receiving a message that says the "printer's name is incorrect... or the printer cannot be found." I understand this to be because I obviously took the printer's IP address offline.

Any ideas on what's happening to the users' PCs or how else I can try to remove the printer from the PCs?

Perhpas try rebooting those 2 pc's and see if it will let you remove the printer then.

try con2prt. you'll need to use a login script to copy that file to their computers first. then you can write another script to remove or add printers.
