Can somebody help? I recently purchased a Celeron 'DIY' Kit which came with a BX Pro motherboard. Due to (a) minimalistic instructions and (b) finding this site one day too late, I think I may have blown my motherboard (by plugging the AT connectors the wrong way around). Can you help with these points....
1) Although I am pretty (99%) sure that the board is fried (black screen on startup) is there any surefire way of telling? It may just be that I've connected something wrongly.

2) If it is fried, does that mean that the CPU and RAM on board at the time are fried also? (please god, no)

3) Whats the chances that the 'one year back-to-base' warranty covers idiots like me frying a motherboard?

Loads of thanks in advance for anyone willing to help.....

I've gotten a blank screen (with a BX Pro MoBo) because either the chip and or the memory was'nt seated correctly. I don't think hooking it up incorrectly would necesarily fry it. But it might.

yeah, plugging in the power supply the wrong way will fry the mb. the cpu/mem depends on how well the manufacturer designed the mb. the only way you could tell for sure if the cpu/mem is ok is to try in on another mb.

why not try and call about the warranty -- what have you got to lose?

Has it ever powered up?

If not, then it probably is not fried, but some configuration error you are unaware of. I had problems like this before when I put the Dimm in the wrong slot, even tho it was labled as the first slot! Also, since you said it was a BXPro, I take it it was a very cheap mb, so it might be a bad mb.

yeah, he powered it up -- that's why he got a blank screen.
