Is it worth another $200 for 2 more inches for a monitor? I was thinking about these two. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-116-219&depa=0 and http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-116-228&depa=0.
My birthday is coming soon and im going to get a monitor for it so if any of you have any good recomindations they are greatly appreciated. I wanna get a monitor 19" or bigger. Thanks for the help. :t

I personaly find that 19' and 17' are the best, so you should go with 19' one. 21' i think would be the best of two if you working with graphics a lot, i don't find it comfortable for gaming it's way to big you will have to turn your head a lot :D lol. :t
Oh yeah, that ViewSonic 19' is really nice i have Viewsonic my self it 19' too, best monitor i ever used.

Thanks for the feedback. It's basically just for gaming. Right now im using a 15" flatscreen peice of junk. :p The max resolution on this thing is 1024x768 so this is going to be a really big upgrade for me and i'm sure I will enjoy it. :)

Why don't you go to a computer store(any store), find any 19' and 21' monitor and just stand in front of it as if you would be sitting infront of it and see which one is the best for you.
But as i said 19' i think will do really well for you after your 15'. :D :t

I agree, 19" is nice and priced nice too. But, I would get this one instead...
ViewSonic G90f PerfectFlat 19inch (18.0 Viewable) Monitor (http://www.jazztechnology.biz/product/VSG90F) = $244 USD shipped.
It has a 0.21mm horizontal dot pitch, 0.25mm diagonal dot pitch vs 0.25mm aperture grille at center, 0.27mm aperture grille at corners. And, it's $15 cheaper.
Good luck! :D

Not to sure what that all means. :p I like that it's $15 cheaper but I like that the other one goes up to 2048x1536 resolution.

The lower the dot-pitch, the sharper/clearer the picture you get... Are you really going to run it at 2048x1536 @ 68Hz?
Good luck! :D

I'm not really sure. A lot of games don't even go past 1600x1200 right? Also the lower the refresh rate the harder on the eyes? If you could explain to me real quick, I don't know much about monitors. :)

Yeah, I would think that would be the highest you would run at.
In general, you should run at a minimum of 72Hz in whatever resolution you will use and a maximum of 85Hz there's no need to crank the rate up, certainly not beyond 85Hz. Higher rates don't produce any user benefit and waste PC and display card resources that could be used for other processing tasks.

It never quite looks the same at the store as it does on your desk however.

Why is this one http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-116-232&depa=0 more expensive than this one http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-116-219&depa=0. There the same thing.
EDIT: Hmmmmm, lol. Two seconds after I posted this they took the one I just posted off the website.

I just bought this one:
http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=296017&pfp=BROWSE
since my envision EN-985e Took a dump after only seven months. AND, there "1 year warranty" would cost me over a hundred bucks in shipping and handling charges.
The viewsonic is much sharper than the envision.

Go with a 19" and don't worry too much about having super high resolutions - I doubt you will go over 1280x1024.
Have you considered the Samsung 955DF (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-001-119&depa=0)? It's a flat CRT (DynaFlat) with a 0.20mm dot pitch. I've got a Samsung 950P with slightly lesser specs and it's been since I bought it new four years ago.

I'll second that. I have one at work and it's an excellent monitor and a super value. You can get it for $200 just about anywhere, so you don't have to get it online. Go check it out.

http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/detail.asp?dpno=348811&store=ecost&source=ECOSTDEAL&adcampaign=email,ECOSTDEAL and http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=135358&_LOC=US. I'm about to order that monitor in like 30 min but I found those to sites that are selling it for $190 and one of the sites also offers free shipping above $25. Are they trustworthy? Anyone ever order from them before? Or should I just go with Newegg? Thanks. :t

...but, as rsfnatik pointed out, this is a much better monitor.
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-001-119&depa=0 = $209 USD shipped.
Good luck! :D
