Ok, if someone can sell a mac here (or at least try to), then I figure I can try to get info on my calculator. I just got a TI-83+, I wanted to load some games on there, but most of the games I found were only for the TI-83, and ould not work when I tried them on it. Is there an emmulator or something?

First, a poor mans gameboy does not cost $100+link cable. Second, your calculus teacher knows nothing, try running SOS on the TI83+ (and print this to show her I think she knows ****) it has more memory, but is very different, and the TI-86 has a black case, the only different colors are the keys are a better color choice.
i will never live down my mac selling, but i have to get rid of it, so i might as well try here. (its is a pc forum, a mac is a personal computer, so whats so wrong with that anyway???[beside the point that its macintrash])

Believe it or not, there is an entire other community devoted of primarly 13-18 year olds who big on graphing calculators... Games, programming (assembly and basic), and things you never imagined.
check out www.ticalc.org and www.calc.org if you don't believe me. /forum/smile.gif

I heard of a crackpot idea of hooking TI calculators together for more processing power, sort of like a beowulf cluster...
Mmmmmmmm, distributed calculating..... /forum/smile.gif

there's been some pretty wacky ideas of having a "wireless server" and everyone around school would carry a TI-8x, with a wireless modulator. And you could "log onto" the server and become part of the network - chat with other people through your calculator... play games, and other neat stuff. It'd take a ton of work though. But for a highschool attendee like myself, that would utterly rule. /forum/smile.gif

You all can keep your TI-8X's!
I'll use my HP 48GX.
What would be the point in linking a bunch of calculators together?
By the time you do that you might as well buy a bunch of laptops with a cellnet.
I still remember the days when the most powerful calculator was a 4 function unit that, if you were lucky, might do square roots! (I know, I just dated myself) You should learn the math before you start using high power calculators. By the time I graduated from high school there were teachers that tried to flunk me because I was doing calculations in my head rather than on the calculator. They just couldn't believe that I could do that! So please don't get to caught up in the calculator craze. They do, however, work really good for games!

One more thing, I don't think anyone would care if you ask about calcs on this forum. I'm sure that we would give you all of the help we can. When I was in school I was kind of considered the local genius when it came to anything about computers or calculators.
If this becomes a big thing on this forum, you might consider asking Scott, aka SysOpt, to setup a forum for calculators (Just a thought!)

Heh, I like that server idea, and the semester it got started grades would just drop off to nothing.
