Ok, after I put soft FSB on my friends computer, I went through the intel boards looking for a match, I found the AL440LX, then I found his motherboard by gateway 2000, checked out both eb sites, and it appeares they are the same board, could I safely flash the Intel Bios on his gateway 2000 board for the best preformance, and removal of that annoying startup logo?

In most cases, the Intel flash loader will not allow you to do that. With some creativity in file names, it can be done though. I always just used the PROM burner though.
