I have a AMS Tech 5032ecx laptop with win95. Iwanted to do a clean install for win98. Reformatted and tryed installing win98 I got message SU0409 stating to turn off any virii prog. I dont have any. I went to AMS's web site they had a bios upgrade for win98. So I down loaded it and flashed. Well after reboot the screen wont come on and the thing beeps. Is there anything I can do? If not is this something a local shop can fix or am I going to have to send it in to AMS? Thx

the error about the virus warning meant that the virus warning was enabled in your bios. you just needed to enter the bios at boot and disable it.however its a bit late for that.you now need to enter the bios at boot, normally by holding down the del key till you get the menu and enter bios setup.you will need to enter your hard disk info etc.this will be the primary master, you can usually set it to auto.if you run a cdrom then try it as primary slave first,if it does not work try it as scondary master again use auto setting. if you dont know all your settings the safe way is to set bios defaults . i know this isnt comprehensive but it should get you going.

Well on the machines I support here at IBM a continuous beep indicates a bad system board, if the flash went bad then you need to send it in or find a shop to fix it, I would not tell anyone you flashed it though because it could be a big bill....Although flashing is the customers problem software usually is not their problem (Tricky huh)
If I read right you did not have video so you can't enter the bios... oh if ya have a regular display hook it up and see what you get externally.
