What's up with that? Geeez, I was getting
great connections to my ISP and often had
pings of 75-125 on over a dozen Q2 servers!
Now I can't connect at anything above 31.2!

My modem is a Global Village Teleport 56k x2
(internal ISA). Recently flashed it to
support (supposedly) v.90/x2. Even after
that flash, I was still getting good connects
to my X2-ISP, 44k - 50k. Then my ISP
"upgraded" to also support the v.90
standard. But the x2 was supposed to still
work. I can only connect at 28.8 now
(sometimes 31.2) and that's it!!!

What happened to my good connnections? Obviously the phone lines were ok just
yesterday.

ANY advice or assistance in any way is very
much appreciated. Thanks.

I suggest you hang in there for a bit and let your ISP sort out their systems. Couple of months ago, the provider I use added new numbers and we suffered bad connections and dropped lines for several days. Could have even been a week.

There are init strings to turn off your v.90 protocol....and the x2 will still work with your provider. I dobt know them for your modem but check www.56k.com...you'lll most likely find them there. Actually they might be the same for all x2 modems.....but check there under init strings and you'll find out how to turn the v.90 off...and if that doesn't work....reinstall everything.....

good luck

Thanks for the advice guys. But I'm now back on the net at 45,333.

Spent all night tweeking my modem init string and other variables, with no luck. Then go to logon today, ba-da-bing ba-da-boom, 45,333. It was raining yesterday and I think water in the lines has been a problem before in my neighborhood. That's all I can figure.
