no sound from SB DVD 5x

I don't get any sound from my (SB DVD 5x kit with dx2 card) when playing *.vob files or any movies.
I have a amd k6-2 300mhz fic 503+ w/ SB live, 64 meg ram, 16 meg SB banshee AGP,and win98. I have sound in all my games and everywhere else but there?
any sugestions
P.S. the knowlege base at creative sucks because it can't answer any question regarding win98.

I hope this isn't too insulting... have you checked the hardware connections? I installed one of those in a friends system a few days ago... I seem to remember some weird audio cable you have to run from the DVD drive to the decoder card to the sound card to get sound to work.
If you have that set up correctly check and see if when you installed the hardware decoder if it booted your sound card (under hardware profile in system in control panel). The DVD decoder tried to boot the sound card in my friends system, just uninstalled both (remove) and then wacked refresh, win98 found and installed both... they get along well now.
