One of my mates has got a DVD or something of that ilk, which he is trying to back up, at present he has made an image file of some sort of the disc, which weighs in at a few GB by the sounds of it, however he doesnt have a DVD-RW drive, so cant back it up like that. I was wondering if there is any utility out there that can split image files so they can be spread across several CDR's or something, and then be recompiled back in their whole form and mounted on a virtual CD/DVD device?
Cheers

Don't know if it would work, but perhaps a utility like WinRar would do it....I think Nero has an option for disc spanning too.

WinRAR's how we did it, just split the archives containing the image file, then extracted em and mounted em on a virtual drive

BootitNG does it also. It will even do it in a compressed mode.

There's a prog available called DVDshrink which may do the job - but the whole thing is becoming such a grey area.
