What the hells an XILLEON? For that matter what is a Radeon?
Just more proof that a big company hopes that by sticking an X somewhere in its new product's name (even if it is pronounced as a Z) it'll get more sales.

To be perfectly honest, it sounds like a souped up All-In-Wonder to me. But just by calling it XILLEON, they will sell it for twice the price. :t

XILLEON 225 integrates into a single chip all the processing, graphics, video, audio, and I/O capabilities needed in a set-top box or digital TV.
Included are a 300MHz MIPS, dual-HD (high definition) capable MPEG decoder and audio decoder, dual display engine, 2D and 3D graphics engine, conditional access, transport demultiplexers, PCI, USB, and hard disk drive interfaces.
Seems to be a lot more than an AIW to me... will surely do well in set top box computers. It's more like a chipset for a motherboard in 1 chip.

What the hell is wrong with calling it something that doesnt exist?
Would you have thought that when a computer was first named?
"What the hell is a computer?"
Most companys do things like that with their names also
Athlon (WTF is that) FX (an X)
Windows XP (oh oh another X)
Flash MX (ahh another X)
Be really borin if they called it
Graphics Adaptor version 15, Enhanced

Well, the Athlon was so called as it invoked the word 'athlete' in people's minds, duron equaled durable in much the same way.
Pentium was Intel's way around not being able to copyright a number and then having their compeditor release products with virtually the same name 386dlc, 6x86 etc...
As for Windows XP and Flash MX, I've allready put forward my theory that aqnything with an 'X' in the name will sell more.
Just think if they marketed Viagrex instead of viagra, it would have taken the connotation of making your member as fearsome as a T-Rex, something that only SPAM has capitalized upon so far :)
All I can think of regarding the name 'XILLEON' is that ATI believe that they'll make xillions of dollars fram it.

maybe cuz of the fact that the 3 dimentions are x,y,z the fact that you leave out x makes us think x. and if you didnt leave x out, there would be 3 letters, but you make us think of x and 3. Does that also mean you get more sales?
;):x

ATI Multi Purpose Chip v225
or
ATI Intergrated System v2
Need to have a catchy name, they tend to have X Y or Z in them ... they sound powerful ;)
xcaliber
xplosion

Who care what they call the name. i dont. the name is the last thing i look at. i look at the things that matter i.e. benchmarks then i look at the name, the name doesn't matter!! what am i saying of course the brand matters though. if you get what im saying. like the porsche brand i would rather have then the skoda brand. because they are better. equally ill have the ATI rather than a geforce. because they are better.
so can we all stop bickering about the **** letters in the name.

Did anyone look at this and think...
MEDIA GX?
...reloaded? ;)
I sure did. It does show promise, though, if it has hardware mpeg decoding functionality.

You silly sod! I've been trying to remove any reference of those god-awful CPUs from my memory for 8 years! Now you've brought every negative thing about them flooding back!
