Just upgraded to WIN98 in order to use a Logitech USB Quick Cam Pro video camera. Having a problem with Windows recognizing the device. Every time I plug it in it detects an unknown device, says it's going to load the drivers, but never asks for a disk to get the drivers off of. In the control panel it lists and unknown device under the USB heading. Any ideas?

Is there a place to Update Driver when you double click on the unknown device? If there is then maybe you can install the driver from there.

Here is a link to the Logitech help page for the quick cam pro.
www.logitech.com/us/support/7510.html (http://www.logitech.com/us/support/7510.html)
It describes what to do if it is not detected right the first time.

Thanks, but I've already gone that route. Logitech doesn't know what the problem is.
The unknown device is listed under the USB heading, which is wierd because normally unknown devices are listed in their own category. Tried pointing windows to the correct drivers for the camera, but it tells me that the drivers there are not for the device.

I know how you feel. I once had a scanner for 6 weeks before I got it to work.
Do you have assign irq to usb enabled in your bios?
Did you install Win98 over Win95 or did you install Win98 from scratch?

If windows is loading the drivers and not prompting you for a disk i suspect that you will need to hack your registry and rid any entries for the device. This will be difficult and could screw up your system. If logitech have an uninstall program this will be better. Then try again.
Ps. Im not sure about win98 but with 95 you had to load pix 4 drivers for intel chipsets and the usb supliment to get usb working properly.
Just a thought.
