Hi guys, I've got autorun for my cd-rom disabled in my registry. The thing here is (i'm not sure if this is a problem or not), when I boot up with the cd-rom empty, the CD-ROM drive under windows explorer reads as cd-rom drive, naturally.
However, when I boot up the computer with a CD in the cd-rom drive, windows explorer shows up the CD's icon and label. When I eject the CD and put in another CD, this icon and label stays the same all the time, even when the drive is empty. I press F5 in windows explorer to try to get it to refresh the windows, to no avail. Is it supposed to be like this?

I've had that problem before also. I also have my auto run disabled. I am not sure why it does it, but I have learned, its not that big of a deal, and doesn't cause the pc to act funny, so why worry about it.

wonder if doing a refresh on the thing would make the icon change?

Sure, it doesn't really make the pc act funny. :) It's one of those minor "cosmetic errors" that sorta annoy you in the long run. I was hoping for somebody who had a solution to that. :x

Tried TweakUI yet? There's an option to fix icons.
Also, have you tried removing the cd and then rebooting without a cd in the cdrom?
Same thing happens to me, and I don't have autorun disabled.

Okay, probably I'll give TweakUI a try.
If I boot up without a CD, it stays as "CD-ROM drive" in Explorer. I'm fine with that.
It's only when I boot up with a CD-ROM does the CD label stick there in Explorer forever, even when I've already taken out the CD.
It's like with autorun disabled, Explorer just simply refuses to update optical drive's icon when it changes.
