system will not boot to W95 (early version upgraded from W3.1), damaged VMM32.VXD which i cant seem to repair using bootdisk. i have a 2gig HD that is half full. i think partition magic requires being able to boot to windows, so i think fdisk and format are my only options. question is, can i use fdisk and install W98 (i have OEM version) without losing existing data on HD? any tips, ideas or work-arounds greatly appreciated......

You should be able to fix it without re-installing anything... Just copy VMM32.VXD from another system to yours, VMM32 is your Virtual Memory Manager so it shouldn't matter where you get the file from as long as it's from the same platform. This worked for me http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
