About a week ago my auto run stopped working, it will still play music CD's. It will still operate game CD's, etc.But I must install them manually. The auto insert notification is checked. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Derrick

Three things you can do.
1.Install TweakUI by doing a search from the Start/Find/Files&Folders for: TweakUI.inf on the Win98 CD-Rom. Right click on the file and select install. After installion launch the program from Control Panel. Go to the last tab "Paranoia" and place a check on the two auto play boxes. If you need to restart do so. See if it worked. Stick in a data CD you know that will autostart (WIN98.) It should work fine. The audio may or may not work.
2.Double click My Computer. Go to View/FolderOptions/FileTypes. If there is an entry on the left for "CD Audio," highlight it and click Remove. Then go to step 3.
If there is entry for "CD Audio Track".
Highlight it. On the bottom half of the window it will say "Extension: CDA" "Opens with: CDPLAYER." Click Edit. It should read: "Description of type: CD Audio Track"
There should be no entry for "Content Type" or "Default Extention." Under "Action" it should read "Play." Highlight this and click on Edit. This time under Action it should read "&Play" and under "Application used" it should read C:\WINDOWS\cdplayer.exe -play
The box under that will be unchecked. If it isn't like this, make it so. If you can't, just delete the **** thing. Then go to step 3.
3.Open Control Panel and double click on the Add/Remove Programs icon. Click Windows Setup. Highlight MultiMedia. Click Details. Uncheck CD Player to remove it. (At this point whether you restart or not is up to you. It may be better to, but not necessary.)Insert your Win98 CD-ROM. Open Control panel go thru the paces but this time check CD Player to reinstall it. Stick in a music CD and it should play. TweakUI Should have taken care of the Data CD's. A note about TweakUI. Don't mess around with this too much or at the least make a written log of changes you make.
