My friend recently tried flashing his Gigabyte 686-LX motherboard with a bios from the website. The flash utility locked up and (like a fool) he rebooted the pc. Currently, the system boots but has no video output and does not access the drives. The power button also does not work. Is there any way to fix this short of a bios chip? If not, is this something that is covered by the garuantee or should he just keep quiet about the bios upgrade? Any help much appreciated....

i had this happen to 2 of my boards. i currently have 3 bios chips for my boards with the updates being burned and delivered. try this company and see if they can help you.
medialand in california. their number is: 510-475-7868 their website is: www.medialand-sys.com
hope this helps. oh, it's only $30 a chip plus shipping charges.
oops. go to g.b.t.inc. in l.a. usa. their fax number is:626-854-9339 or the bbs:626-854-9340. the company i gave you before is for fic; my board. don't know if they'd do another companies bios, but they might. they may at least know who does or lead you to the general direction.
