mozilla vs Firefox

I though they were the same thing but I was wrong. I just downloaded the newest version of mozzila.. well it looks pretty much the same but not....
What is the differences in the two?
Which is better..
So now I have ie6/firefox and mozilla.. I need to find out which one out of fire and mozilla I should keep. thanx

BTW- I tried setting up my hotmail account with mozilla's thingy but I can't get it to work.. Can you set it up with an hotmail account?

firefox is much more a "lite" browser, a sort of "cut down" version of mozilla.

I think mozilla does email too? amongst a few other differences.

Correct...Firefox is "light"...but, you can tweak the dickens out of it.
Customize tab behavior, browser interface...but, no built in mail suppport.
you can download thunderbird for email, though...

For Hotmail support, see if this helps...

Firefox is a great browser, and only a browser - go for the standard Mozilla release if you want built in email etc. No more spyware :D

I think he's looking for a mail client, rather than use the webmail...RC.

You can use an email client, i.e. Outlook, Outlook Express, Endura, thunderbird, etc.
and use POP3 to get your email....

True, most people use webmail for their hotmail, some still like to use an email client.
Yours included.

You can use comcast's webmail for email...but, I choose to use Outlook 2003 for better organization and control...

that's yahoo? and it costs money. Anyone who pays a "free" webmail provider for a pop3 account is getting ripped off.

Besides, I thought the issue here was browsers having hotmail support, which every browser I know of does since hotmail is (cheifly) a web-based email service, and web browsers do web :]

sorry, being on dialup I tend to read threads whilst they load, didn't realise there were more replies.

Even so, this thread is about mozilla vs firefox, and the difference is one has pop3 support, the other is actually just a web browser. (I don't see why "hotmail" should be a special exception to anything).

As for general "email" or pop3 support, personally I want a browser that's a browser. I don't like general "all in one" massive shebangs that try to unify my computer usage, I like small tidy applications that do what they say on the tin and don't try to organise my life for me.

For me, the web and (pop3/imap) email are such different things that I don't like the idea of one thing doing it all.

seems like most of your are LAZY readers.

both FireFox (used to be called phoenix)

are Cousins.

They are from the Same creators alright.

But their Internals are different.

FireFox is a brand new code totally from grounds up

meanwhile Mozilla is from the old Gegko engine.

FireFox runs muchhh faster than Mozilla.

the recent version of Mozilla 1.7b has an influx of FireFox

you can say it's reverse engineering

whatever worked well in FireFox, they apply it to Mozilla, but modified to work on the Gegko engine.

I thought firefox used gecko too?

I thought it was the same engine, but one was feature rich, the other a "lite" browser, hence "mozilla" plugins work in both browsers.

I use Firefox and Thunderbird in both my WIN and Linux systems.I like the browser and mail systems seperate and Firefox is much faster on my systems that Mozilla however I haven't tried the latest 1.7.
Plus you can tweak the devil out of firefox as previously mentioned.
To each his own however. mozilla is a good full featured browser-mailer.:t :t

I used Mozilla as my main browser, until I finally got around to installing Firething (I know it's -fox now but it will probably be different soon anyway. Firefox is an old movie with Clint Eastwood and some amazing thought-controlled jet fighter).

It's not particularly stable, there are a couple of pages where it will simply crash, but it's way faster. I used to think it wasn't really possible to make a faster browser because the connection speed would always be the limiting factor. Turns out I was wrong. :D

I have the Plastikfox Crystal SVG theme installed, and as a whole it's just a very nice thing to use: for an example of this, try the toolbar customization feature (View>Toolbars>Customize...). Simplicity itself. Then (just for laughs mind you) try the same feature in Office. :t

I've been using firefox0.8 recently. It's fast but plugins are a problem. I've also been using MyIE browser. Today I decided to go to MyIE as my default. It's as fast and also has more features available.

Initially...java and Flash plugins aren't installed.
All you have to do is go to either of their sites, download the netscape version of their plug in...and it's all good.

Please contact google and make a request for added ability to make a specific link between google and mozilla mail for HTML access

Outlook can only access HOTMAIL.com when i last looked lets make google.com email the primary access of thunderbird



anyone know how to get MSN messenger to open mozilla when you click the new email dialogue?? it always wants to open IE
