If you're booting from a floppy, make sure that the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files contain lines to setup the CD. The floppy will need to have the proper files on it also.

The CONFIG.SYS should contain something like this:
device=himem.sys
device=oakcdrom.sys /D http://www.sysopt.com/forum/redface.gifemcd001

The AUTOEXEC.BAT should contain:
LH MSCDEX.EXE /D http://www.sysopt.com/forum/redface.gifemcd001 /L http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif

HIMEM.SYS, OAKCDROM.SYS, and MSCDEX.EXE need to be on the floppy. HIMEM.SYS and MSCDEX.EXE are pretty universal. The OAKCDROM.SYS is what came with my CD. Yours might be named differently.

Hope this helps.

You Should try MY Cdrom Setup and boot disk.
It works with Every IDE Cdrom (so far have not found 1 yet http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif ) You can also fdisk, format, make the drive bootable, and cdrom support . All on 1 disk with easy to follow instructions. Best of all it is free
