Just completed computer upgrade to PII 350 with a Tyan thunder MB and W98. My MS gamepad is coming up as not being connected (through the sblive board, which worked before upgrade). I called MS and followed their instructions, directX directinput is as it should be, I get no conflicts and no other joystick will work either.
Any ideas???

two things. Make sure the game connecter is properly installed on the booard ie no bent bins and its seated in the correct position. Next, make sure you have the latest drivers for the game adapter. I had the standard microsoft one (cmedia) and the updated win98 drivers were needed to correct this problem. Get all the drivers from winfiles.com
I couldn't get my joystick port to work at all until I forced it to used the drivers that came with it, instead of W98's drivers. Good luck with it.
Did you go to the control panel and select
game controllers, then choosing the sound card from the small pull down menu in the advance section your joystick is connected.
cf1,
I just checked under the advanced tab. There is no menu of any kind relating to the sound card.

Install the 3.0.2 software/drivers from MS at:
www.microsoft.com/products/hardware/sidewinder/force/default.htm
Please post if this solves problem.
