I need major help!!!!
I was getting sick of using my laptop computer, so I bought a new computer from COM4ALL in Copenhagen, Denmark. It came with only the hardware, like hard drive, CD-ROM drive, floppy drive, voice modem, monitor, multimedia speakers, microphone, keyboard, and mouse. It came with no software, just the disks for the drivers. I believe the name of the computer is something like AMD C4 OfficePro 300. I see labels that says 'made in China'. Now, we got Windows 98 installed on it, and we got an ISP called CyberCity Internet (in Denmark). We had everything working, and we got on the net. We experienced a couple crashes, but that was probably due to too many browser windows open at once. But last night something bad happened. I went to a page http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Arena/3714/zook.html, and it played a midi file on the page. While viewing the page I noticed the midi file song started to mess up a bit, then all of a sudden the midi acted real wierd and started to loop. Then the computer froze up. We turned it off and turned the power back on. We got to the scan disk, but it froze during it, we got to the scan disk 4 times, and it froze everytime. Now we can't even get to the scan disk. When we start up our computer, it starts the system check (black screen with white letters) when you turn the power on, but it now freezes up during that. The last line of text we can see is 'Hit DEL if you want to run SETUP'. But the problem is that it freezes up, and hitting DEL does nothing. But I noticed that 2 lines above that last line is something written in red that says 'CPU setting incorrect'. So, I tried restarting my computer again, and this time hitting the DEL key constantly, so that I could get it before it froze. It still froze up, but this time there was another line that said 'CMOS Checksum Bad'. I have no idea what to do. I am using my laptop to surf the internet to try to find a solution. I am living in Denmark, but I do not speak Danish, so I have to wait for my wife to get home so she can call our PC dealer. The PC dealers website is www.com4all.dk, and his email is mail@com4all.dk. Just another note, at the top of the screen on start up, it says 'American Megatrends'. I hope I have supplied enough information. I do not know for sure what the make and the model is, just that in the ad I saw, it said AMD C4 OfficePro 300. It also says omething like 'AMD K672 3D CPU 300 Mhz. I am not sure if that is useful info. But please, I hope you can help me. We will also try to comtact our PC dealer today. Thanks for any info you can provide. If you need more info about the PC, I will try to find out more. Please email me at magtaoeegpagtesem@yahoo.com if you can help me. Thanks!
